Frequently Asked Questions: Coaching
What is coaching, and how does it work?
Coaching is a collaborative process that helps you gain clarity, set goals, and create actionable strategies to achieve your desired outcomes. As your coach, I’ll guide you through identifying obstacles, creating a realistic action plan, and staying accountable as you work toward your goals. There will be homework, but it won’t be a heavy lift (you already have enough to do). Each session will always end with a clearly defined next step to help you move toward your overall goal.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented, helping you create strategies to achieve specific personal or professional goals. Unlike therapy, which often addresses past experiences and emotional healing, coaching focuses on moving forward. I have read a lot of psychology books, but I’m not a licensed therapist. I’ll leave the trauma work to the experts.
What can I expect from a coaching session?
Each session is tailored to your needs, but generally flows like this: We’ll begin with an update of what’s going on and how things have been going since our last session. Then we set an intention for our time together, work together to come up with solutions, and dive deep into developing a clear action plan. I’ll provide insights, tools, resources, and accountability to ensure you're progressing toward your objectives.
How long does a coaching engagement typically last?
Coaching can range from short-term engagements (3-6 sessions) to long-term partnerships. Many clients start with a 3-month package, but the duration depends on your specific goals and how quickly you want to achieve them.
What kind of results can I expect?
Results vary based on the effort and commitment you bring to the coaching process. Some of the most common improvements my clients experience are: goal attainment, work-life balance, confidence, creativity, decision-making, productivity, and personal fulfillment.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple! You can book a free consultation (here), and we’ll discuss your needs and how I can support your journey. I have limited availability for new clients, and scheduling a consultation is not a guarantee that you’ll be accepted as a coachee.
How often will we meet for sessions?
Typically, coaching sessions are held twice a month on a recurring cadence that works in your schedule. This frequency provides enough time for you to implement strategies between sessions while keeping momentum. I occasionally offer weekly packages for those with a tight timeline on their goal.
What happens if I need to miss a session?
I understand that life happens! If you need to reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. We’ll find another time that works for you. Cancellations without notice may result in forfeiting the session, depending on the agreement.
If I need to reschedule for some reason, I will give you as much notice as possible. You will be issued a make-up session credit and given priority when booking.
Who is coaching for?
Coaching is ideal if you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking growth in your personal or professional life. I specialize in working with high performers who are looking to level up from rockstar individual contributor to dynamic leader, over-achiever to passionate strategist, and burnt out to fired up.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I offer a complimentary consultation call where we discuss your goals, how coaching can help, and whether we’re a good fit to work together. The free consultation is informational (not a glorified sales pitch) and both parties have to be comfortable in order to move forward.
What is the investment for coaching?
My coaching packages are tailored to fit your needs, with prices ranging based on the length and frequency of sessions. I offer both short-term packages (like the 3-session Jumpstart package) and longer-term programs. Please reach out for detailed pricing and package options.
Do you offer refunds?
Coaching is an educational service, meaning you can’t “undo” it (kind of like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube). If coaching isn’t a good fit for you, there is no penalty to cancel your remaining sessions. I ask that you give me two weeks of notice for program cancelations. For missed sessions (with notice) you will be given credit for a make-up session. If no notice is provided then the session may not be credited as a make-up. So, the short answer is no refunds.
Can I combine coaching with other services like workshops or group programs?
Absolutely! I offer a variety of services, including workshops, group coaching, and 1:1 sessions. We can create a custom package that includes individual coaching or group programs to suit your needs. It’s common for leaders to use group coaching to extend the “shelf-life” of a workshop or training program. That usually looks like a once-a-month video conference (60 minutes) for a set number of sessions.
This is a frequently asked question?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
